The Look

The Look

The moon landing was much more then only a technical masterstroke. The Apollo program had and has enormous cultural influence. For the first time mankind saw the tiny blue planet from the orbit of the moon.

From the beginning the Apollo program was accomponied by professional photographers and filmmakers. But not only – NASA created a special art program which included famous american artists like Paul Calle, Norman Rockwell and Robert Rauschenberg.
In the last years especially in „anniversary years“ new books and films were published. But nearly fifty years after the historic event it seems that every picture and original film was published. Also it is hard to find any new material in the web.
For my Apollo project it is very important to create a modern artistical look. Handmade ink drawings will be scanned and colorised on the computer.
I will use a reduced color range.

As a result I will create a special look which – hopefully – will also bring a breathe of fresh air into a fifty years old historic event – especially for a younger audience.
